I will admit that I was more than a bit nervous to post these photos, since they are definitely unlike any of my maternity photos to date. I knew, however, that I wanted to showcase an indoor, ‘naked belly’ shoot at some point during my pregnancy, since I realize that many people enjoy this type of maternity session (including myself), and I wanted to show that I could do it and what it would look like. Let’s face it, not everyone is pregnant in the Spring/Summer/Fall like I am, there will be some winter pregnancies when shooting outside will just not be possible every week. That doesn’t mean that we can’t get beautiful shots of your bump!
These were done in my home, in my room, with only a small-ish window as my source of light. Of course black and white is preferred in this type of situation, and I really like how the silhouettes came out, they have that grainy, film-like quality that goes well with this type of session. And as much as I wanted to Photoshop out my wrinkles and veins, and thin out my back and my thighs (and everything else), I held off and kept it as natural as possible, because that’s what pregnancy should be, natural and beautiful just the way it is.
I tried to keep everything fairly modest for the sake of this project, but I would totally be up for doing a sexier maternity shoot with a client, and would love to see a woman confident enough in her pregnant body to go for it and bare it all (or even to wear clothing but rock the session boudoir style…) If this is something that would interest you, please get in touch with me!
I apologize to anyone that may find these images ‘offensive’, or finds it strange that a photographer would post photos of themselves like this on their blog, but again, I wanted to try this type of session, both for myself personally and professionally, so I did what felt ok. Trust me, it won’t be happening too often!

I can’t believe I only have about 5 more of these mini sessions to do and then the baby will be here! It has gone by quickly, that’s for sure. Thank you all for following along with me on this journey of mine![]()
Be back soon for a wedding and family sneak peek!
Until then,
