W. | Sussex, NB Boudoir Photographer

As the New Year approaches I’ve been thinking a lot about my business and what I want from it in the future. It will be 5 years (in March 2016) that I have been (legally) doing photography as my only job, and while I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve been able to do, I want to keep pushing, keep trying new things, keep learning, and keep feeding my passion for photography, which is the whole reason I started this crazy journey in the first place.

Which brings me to boudoir photography…I know, you’re probably thinking ‘oh no, not another one’, but yes, I want to throw my hat into this incredibly beautiful but often misunderstood form of photography. I have learned in the past 6 months or so that boudoir photography is no longer what it used to be and that it can be simple, raw, evocative, and, yes, incredibly sexy. I have always loved photographing women, ‘real’ women (see my A Mother’s Body project), and as I age I’ve come to really get behind the statement that all women are beautiful, that sexuality doesn’t have to be hidden (and doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive from motherhood), and that capturing women in a confident, gorgeous manner, brings me all kinds of joy and empowerment of my own.

So I’m putting it out there for all to see (and for all to judge I’m sure); I WILL BE OFFERING BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY IN 2016. I’m still working out the logistics and will be separating my boudoir work from my regular work (no need for those looking at pretty wedding photos and newborn cuteness to be confronted with parts they weren’t expecting to see, ha!), but I hope that by the spring I’ll be ready to present this new part of my business. I’m incredibly excited for what’s to come!

I had my first portfolio session last month with a very generous model, and we had such a fun time, I can’t wait to do it again!

(In order to keep confidentiality these are just a few anonymous shots from our session, please note that I will be including faces in my photos!) 😉

Thanks so much!
