After our amazing trip to Grand Manan last year for our 10th anniversary, we knew we wanted to go back for our anniversary this year, so in April we booked our little Birdhouse and counted down the days until we could be there again. After an unfortunate incident with the ferry over (we weren’t allowed on as schedule and had to wait 2.5 hours for the next one, cutting short our first night there), the rest of the trip went perfectly. The weather was appropriately moody when needed, but we also had some beautiful sunshine, and we explored a few new places such as the provincial park and Hole-In-The-Wall (above), along with revisiting some old favorites from last year (the North Head Bakery, Swallowtail lighthouse). Throw in a lobster dinner, an outdoor shower, and a guitar, and you’ve got yourself a perfect trip.
Having time together on a quiet, slow-paced island like this really allows us to recharge and focus on what’s important, our marriage. We’re 11 years in and still wanting to be together, above all else, and for that I’m so grateful.
