The Dunfields | MY FAVOURITES [Norton, NB Wedding Photographer]

undefined

It’s been a little over a month since Derek and Stacey tied the knot, but I’m just now getting around to posting some of my favourite images from their day!  The thing about weddings, there are always LOTS of photos!

While I was browsing through the final shots to pick out my favs, I noticed two things: One, that I enjoy the classic look of black and white images for weddings (most of the time I enjoy colour, and lots of it! Some of those are included here as well…) and Two, I’m a sucker for detail shots. Little things here and there that tell the story of the day in more than just a ‘smile and say cheese’ kind of way. Things that the bride and groom may forget in a few years from now (like the image below of Stacey sewing her son Dax’s ring bearer pillow while getting her hair done), but memories that are important nonetheless in telling the overall story of the day.  These are the ones I’m drawn to the most. The ‘in betweens’, I call them. Of course there are lots of pretty posed images as well, and that’s the beautiful thing, mixing these types of shots together to tell a fuller, more vibrant tale.  That’s what I strive to achieve when I’m shooting a wedding.

Stacey has already gone out and printed off some of her images for her living room, I’m so happy to see that she wanted to get them up right away, and I hope that she and Derek and the kids enjoy them for years to come. Congrats again you two, it was a lot of fun and a treat for me to be able to capture your day for you!

So, without further ado, my favourite images from the day 🙂

Personal Project | 18 Weeks [Bump Watch]

undefined I’m a planner. I like to know what to expect and I like to plan for things as far ahead of time as possible.  So knowing the sex of our baby is pretty high up on our list of baby-related priorities (along with the baby being healthy and growing strong, of course). When we found out Victor was a boy we were so happy and immediately started all the fun stuff that comes along with preparing for a new arrival; picking names, buying clothes, dreaming up nursery decor…how is any of that even possible when you don’t know what you’re having?! Just a personal preference I guess. So yes, we are quite excited for our ultrasound!

(These images are a bit cornier than usual, but hey, it’s about having fun, right?!) undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined Be back next week with the results!

Until then,

Personal Project | 17 Weeks [Bump Watch]

undefined

Spring is such a strange time of year. It can be cloudy and drizzly one minute, then completely beautiful and sunny the next.  I’m very lucky that I can be a ‘light chaser’ and run out to take advantage of the perfect light when it decides to pop up, if only for a short amount of time (as it did during this shoot).

This past week or so I’ve definitely ‘popped’ more…there’s no denying (or sucking it in) anymore, it’s time to embrace the bump (and the stretchy pants!)  It should make these sessions a bit easier though, which will be nice 🙂

Until next time,

Personal Project | 16 Weeks [Bump Watch]

undefined

Here we are, 16 Weeks. Quick and simple this time around, just a few snaps of me at an abandoned mall in town, still wearing my coat because it was a bit chilly out…and yet, they’re some of my favourite shots to date. Sometimes quick and simple really works.

undefined undefined undefined I could still pull off looking fairly un-pregnant up until this point, but not anymore, so expect the rest of the weeks to feature the bump much more!

Until then,

*SNEAK PEEK* | The Dunfields [Norton, NB Wedding Photographer]

undefined

Well here we are, a sneak peek of my first wedding of the year! Not having done much wedding photography in the past, I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Stacey and Derek’s small, laid-back wedding was the perfect way for me to get my feet wet. I was so happy when they asked me to photograph their special day, as I had had a lot of fun doing their family photos back in November.

The day was quite beautiful, sunny and bright, but it was probably a bit too chilly for the girls; luckily Stacey had bought them all brightly coloured shawls to wear over their dresses, which added the perfect pop of colour and provided a little bit of warmth. Stacey did such a good job of incorporating fun Spring colours into their black and white themed wedding, and everyone looked really beautiful (except for the boys, who looked handsome!)  They had their ceremony in a little country church in Norton and then gathered for a small reception at a restaurant which sits behind a golf course, so we had lots of room to take pictures. I love how they made sure to involve their children, family, and friends into the event, everything felt really casual and natural, which I think is one of the most important things.

It was really hard for me to narrow down which photos to show, so this sneak peek is probably a bit bigger than it should be, but there’s still lots more to come! I hope you all enjoy 🙂
