Personal Project | 24 Weeks [Bump Watch]

undefined

You know that point in your pregnancy when it hits you that you’re actually…well, pregnant? Yeah, that happened to me these past 2 weeks. Probably because I gained 5 pounds in less than 4 weeks, and probably because the baby is now rolling and bulging in my belly (I can see it), and probably because bending over has gotten harder and harder lately. Denial will only last for so long!

I took these shots while out location scouting for another maternity shoot that I’m doing later tonight (yay!), and even though we’re in the middle of June, I wore long sleeves, rubber boots (from all the rain we got this week) and a light scarf.  Yes, summer indeed.

(Actually, this would be a great time to start this project, since we’re heading into some really nice weather and the bulk of the ‘big’ belly shots would be taken in the Fall, the prettiest time of year! So if you’re interested in having your maternity journey documented in this unique way, don’t hesitate to call for your custom package options!)

undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined I’m soooo excited to be taking photos of another belly (not mine!), so I will be back soon with sneak peeks from that 🙂

Have a great weekend and Father’s Day!

Until then,

Personal Project | 22 Weeks [Bump Watch]

undefined As you can see, I had a bit of company this week when taking my shots (and I know, I missed another week, but c’est la vie! It’s important not to stress over projects like these or else it takes all the fun out of it!)  Anyway, I was out at my sister’s, checking out her garden (recently tilled and planted), and decided to channel my inner farmer girl 😉  My companions are Quincy and Nemo, my sister’s big lovable dogs. They had a great time playing in the grass with me (or at least it looked like they did…)

This 2nd trimester has been really good to me so far, and I’m having fun choosing outfits that either show off my bump or hide it a bit more (soon I won’t have the option!) For these shots I’m wearing maternity shorts (a smart purchase for this summer!) over non-maternity leggings and a non-maternity shirt, plus my semi-cowboy boots from Old Navy…love them!

I found the quote below and thought it seemed appropriate this week, since lately the baby has felt much more like an actual ‘person’ to me, probably because the kicks are getting so much stronger! I’m staring to actually picture him/her and imagining what he/she’ll be like, it’s definitely getting more exciting. undefined undefined undefined Hope you all have a lovely week! I’ll be back soon with a sneak peek from a sweet family session.

Until then,

PS-Did you notice that I changed up the blog a little bit? New warmer colours, and new logo! I’ve also updated my Pricing (now “Investment”) page, and have included my new PORTRAIT PACKAGES! Go have a peek and let me know what you think!

Personal Project | 20 Weeks [Bump Watch]

Well, I knew it would happen at some point, and it did…I missed a week.  With the weather being the way it was and life being the way it was, I just couldn’t keep up. This happened the last time I tried to document my pregnancy with Victor, but I’ve decided this time not to beat myself up too much about it, the important thing is that I document as much of this journey as possible, and so far 8/9 Weeks isn’t so bad. (This is also true for anyone interested in trying this package, don’t feel like you would have to do a shoot with me every week, once every 2 weeks, or even once a month would still document your pregnancy in a great way!)

Anyway, I also learned at my last ultrasound and doctor’s appointment that I’m actually not as far along as I thought I was, I’m about a week behind my original due date based on the baby’s growth, so that gave me an extra week to catch up (yay!)  The ultrasound turned out to be nothing but a big tease, the baby had the cord between his/her legs so we couldn’t really see what he/she was for sure (though the technician was leaning towards GIRL!) I’m hoping to get in for another ultrasound later on in my pregnancy so we’ll be able to try again then, but let me tell you, not knowing is driving us crazy!!

On this particular shoot last week I had my little ‘assistant’ with me, so I decided to include him in a few of the shots (he played in the car while I took the rest of the shots). It was actually WARM on this day, dare I say even a bit muggy. The weather has gone back to being crummy again, but I definitely enjoyed this small taste of summer.

I hope that you’re all enjoying the long weekend, I’ll try to be back soon with some more shots of my little Victor (I had him do his own ‘shoot in the flowers’), and hopefully with a client session (so excited that the season is starting back up!) Thank you all for your support (and patience) as I work on this little personal project 🙂

Until then,

The Dunfields | MY FAVOURITES [Norton, NB Wedding Photographer]

undefined

It’s been a little over a month since Derek and Stacey tied the knot, but I’m just now getting around to posting some of my favourite images from their day!  The thing about weddings, there are always LOTS of photos!

While I was browsing through the final shots to pick out my favs, I noticed two things: One, that I enjoy the classic look of black and white images for weddings (most of the time I enjoy colour, and lots of it! Some of those are included here as well…) and Two, I’m a sucker for detail shots. Little things here and there that tell the story of the day in more than just a ‘smile and say cheese’ kind of way. Things that the bride and groom may forget in a few years from now (like the image below of Stacey sewing her son Dax’s ring bearer pillow while getting her hair done), but memories that are important nonetheless in telling the overall story of the day.  These are the ones I’m drawn to the most. The ‘in betweens’, I call them. Of course there are lots of pretty posed images as well, and that’s the beautiful thing, mixing these types of shots together to tell a fuller, more vibrant tale.  That’s what I strive to achieve when I’m shooting a wedding.

Stacey has already gone out and printed off some of her images for her living room, I’m so happy to see that she wanted to get them up right away, and I hope that she and Derek and the kids enjoy them for years to come. Congrats again you two, it was a lot of fun and a treat for me to be able to capture your day for you!

So, without further ado, my favourite images from the day 🙂

I’ve fallen terribly behind in my Maternity series, the weather is just not cooperating, but I plan on being back soon with a few images of my newly-walking son, Victor!

Personal Project | 18 Weeks [Bump Watch]

undefined I’m a planner. I like to know what to expect and I like to plan for things as far ahead of time as possible.  So knowing the sex of our baby is pretty high up on our list of baby-related priorities (along with the baby being healthy and growing strong, of course). When we found out Victor was a boy we were so happy and immediately started all the fun stuff that comes along with preparing for a new arrival; picking names, buying clothes, dreaming up nursery decor…how is any of that even possible when you don’t know what you’re having?! Just a personal preference I guess. So yes, we are quite excited for our ultrasound!

(These images are a bit cornier than usual, but hey, it’s about having fun, right?!) undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined Be back next week with the results!

Until then,
